FAQs – Tortoise Vet Care
A pre-hibernation check is vital. We assess the ‘Jackson’s Ratio’ (weight-to-length), perform a physical exam, and check for any signs of illness that could be fatal during dormancy.
Pyramiding is the abnormal upward growth of the shell scutes, usually caused by incorrect humidity or diet. While we cannot reverse existing shell shape, we can help you correct the husbandry to ensure future growth is smooth.
A sturdy, high-sided box with a towel or newspaper on the bottom is best. Ensure they are kept warm during the journey, especially in the cooler Manchester months.
