Microchipping
Getting your pet microchipped is greatly important as it will help you reunite with your pet if it goes missing. However, for dogs, getting them microchipped is also a legal requirement. A microchip is a small electronic device that is implanted under the skin of your pet, usually between the shoulder blades. They are designed to last for your pet’s lifetime and they do not store your personal information. When they are scanned, a unique number will appear on the scanner. This can be given to a customer service advisor who works for a microchipping company. They will enter this number into their secure online database, which is where your information will be stored. If your pet is found by a veterinary clinic, rescue or the police, they will be able to contact you and reunite you with your missing pet.
